Watch UFC 118 weigh-ins
live at Caged In at 3 p.m. Central
Aug 26, 2010 | by MattE | No CommentsThe official weigh-ins for UFC 118: Edgar vs. Penn 2 happen Friday at the TD Banknorth Garden in Boston, which hosts Saturday’s highly-anticipated card. It is the UFC’s first card in Boston.
You can watch the weigh-ins live here at Caged In via streaming video player starting at 3 p.m. Central. And for the second time, the weigh-ins will also be broadcast live on Spike TV, the UFC’s television partner.
UFC 118 features a main event lightweight title fight between champion Frankie Edgar and challenger BJ Penn, considered the most dominant lightweight in the history of the sport. Penn is a more than 3 to 1 favorite in the fight, despite being the challenger. He held the lightweight belt for more than two years and three successful title defenses before Edgar took it from him in a close unanimous decision at UFC 112 in April. The co-main event features UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture against former boxing world champion James Toney in Toney’s MMA debut. Couture is a nearly 6 to 1 favorite in the bout. And in a bout UFC president Dana White says will determine the next No. 1 lightweight contender, Kenny Florian takes on unbeaten Gray Maynard.

Watch the UFC 118 pre-fight press
conference LIVE at 2 p.m. Central
Aug 25, 2010 | by MattE | No CommentsUFC 118 takes place Saturday at the TD Banknorth Garden in Boston. You can watch the pre-fight press conference live here at Caged In at 2 p.m. Central through a streaming video player.
UFC 118: Edgar vs. Penn 2 features a main event lightweight title rematch between champion Frankie Edgar and former champ BJ Penn. Edgar became just the second fighter to ever beat Penn at 155 pounds in April at UFC 112 when he won a unanimous – albeit close – decision to take the title. Because of the close nature of the fight – as well as, UFC president Dana White has said, Penn claiming to be sick leading up to the bout – an immediate rematch was scheduled.
Today’s press conference takes place at the historic Faneuil Hall near Boston Harbor and will feature White, Edgar, Penn, UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture, James Toney, Kenny Florian and Gray Maynard. Couture takes on former boxing world champion Toney in the co-main event, Toney’s MMA debut. And Florian and Maynard battle for what White has said will determine the next challenger for the lightweight title.

Dana White: Maynard-Florian winner
likely first in line for title shot
Aug 25, 2010 | by MattE | No CommentsUFC president Dana White on Tuesday said the winner of the Gray Maynard-Kenny Florian lightweight fight Saturday should be next in line for a title shot.
Speaking to 98 Rock in Baltimore promoting Saturday’s UFC 118 card in Boston, White said that fight is essentially a contender’s fight preceding the lightweight title main-even rematch between champion Frankie Edgar and former champ BJ Penn.
“The winner of this fight should definitely get the next title shot,” White said. “I’ve got to go on a fight-by-fight basis. For instance, Gray Maynard looked like he was in line for the title – I gave the title shot to Frankie Edgar, who won the title. So you never know.”
